| Nationally
known as a promoter and producer, Rick has been a
dedicated jazz and blues musician for over twenty years.
He has owned THE JAZZHAUS of Lawrence, Kansas since 1982,
where he continues to promote, produce and/or perform
over 250 shows per year. Within this context, he has
worked with the greatest musicians of our time, including
jazzmen Stan Getz, Barney Kessel, Herb Ellis and Mose
Allison.
His blues credentials include Albert Collins, Son Seals, Jimmy Thackery and Matt "Guitar" Murphy among many others. He has toured extensively, participated in university jazz workshops and clinics, and even fronted a group that backed up the late, great Tiny Tim! For the last twenty-five years, he has co-directed the 18-piece jazz ensemble, The Jazzhaus Big Band, and hosted numerous jazz and blues jam sessions. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Kansas. |
